NeonLock
Prepare to dive into the relentless action of NeonLock, a twin stick shooter with unique mechanic of trail looping! Your character leaves a trail behind, and the only way to kill enemies is to trap them inside the loop with precise movement.
Be swift since enemies break your neon trail!
Use your main shot strategically (LMB) to stun the enemies at the right time and find the propper tactics to defeat all of the hand crafted levels.
Note that the game is designed to be challenging, so if you are struggling, that's expected!
Every level is designed to be unique and requiring different approaches, so experiment enough and find the right one for the job.
Level through the game to increase the intensity of the bass and let the darksynth beats possess you!
The game was balanced with the gamepad controls in mind, so using one is prefferable.
Press R on keyboard or A on controller to restart the level.

Really solid concept, the mechanics are fun and engaging, playing on neon difficulty requires you to make full use of the stun shot
I feel like the hitboxes could use a little more refinement (though they worked mostly in my favour)
I'd love to see this idea further developed, it has a lot of potential honestly
Hey, thank you a lot for playing and beating the game! Wasn't thinking anyone will play it after the jam was done.
About the hitboxes - I think what you are referring to is they can feel inconsistent sometimes because of the camera angle, but as you said, they do feel "in favor of player". I intentionally made them much smaller than the models so that the player never second guesses what hit them, and can make tight plays running between the enemies (it's actually inspired by bullet hell type shmups).
We haven't continued working on this game after the jam, but after reforming the team we are doing a new full release action game. It's not the same as Neonlock, but if you liked this one it will definitely have the same spirit :)
Would love to share it with you when we have more done!
I think there were a bunch of times where i felt like i ran straight into the enemies without paying the consequences. Maybe the camera angle did trick me, it is kind of an unusual one for a game that implements a shmup-like hitbox (yet another factor that makes the game stand out to me). Maybe making the hitbox visible via a tiny shiny dot, as many shmups do, might have helped here
I'd love to check out what you guys are cooking up, do shoot me a comment when it's ready, looking forward to it
Fun little experience — you can really feel the creativity here! These kinds of ideas are why I love jam games. I made one too — Death by Marriage. Dark little mystery story if you're into that kinda thing :)
